Popular Activities of Those Who Access the Internet

clutter.pngI recently came upon an article that was a great resource for online entrepreneurs. It described the favorite activities of web surfers and other users who were accessing the Internet.

The thought I had was this: why wouldn't a new or aspiring (or even seasoned) business owner want to keep this list on file and return to it often as a way of understanding what activities were important to an online business owner?

Why should these things be important to an online owner?

The answer seems so obvious, yet I doubt that many web owners pay attention to such survey results. They are too busy running their businesses and too wrapped up in the day-to-day operation of their company to spend a little time in understanding their customers' desires and surfing preferences.

The survey I am speaking of lists the % of Internet users who report an Internet activity is important to them.

Do you know what the top three online activities are?

Here are the answers along with the % of users that feel this activity is important to them:

  • Send email . . . 91%
  • Use a search engine to find information . . . 90%
  • Search for a map or driving directions . . . 84%

Here is the complete survey list that I am talking about. CLICK HERE

Do you think you could study this list and possibly add some of these user preferences to your business web site to provide greater utility to your online customers?

How about using the list as a source of potential topics of products that your could sell?

If you're a developer (or even if you're not you could hire one) you could use this list to see what kinds of Internet tools you might develop that would appeal to a large audience of online users.

I'm sure there are many, many more ways that this list can help you understand what's important to the online users today.
