I sincerely believe that a successful business can be created around almost any marketable idea.
I also believe that every person has hidden away in his/her mind, a potentially profitable business idea that can be made marketable in the right hands.
Your task, as I see it, is to identify the idea(s) that has this great potential and test it to the extent that you're comfortable with it becoming the basis of your new business going forward.
So how do you pull this good business idea from your mind? Where do you go to find it?
First, I'll tell you where profitable business ideas don't usually reside:
- In hunches or "flashes of inspiration" that you have about new consumer products or, as you may see it, "the next big thing,"
- In canned or pre-packaged business systems or opportunities (biz opps),
- In suggestions or hot tips from your friends, family members, or "overheard" conversations,
- In editorials, news articles, or ads for "Can't Miss Business Ideas,"
- In the classified section of "Work at Home" magazines
If you find an encouraging idea from any one of these sources, chances are good that many others will also get the same idea or try the same type of business, especially in the case of Internet business opportunities.
But the big problem with these sources is they do not capitalize on your knowledge, your skills, background, or passion. The solo online business strategy is all about who you are, what you know, and how you can share your wisdom with others who have your same passion.
When you pursue these other subjects which are "open entry" for everyone, you enter with no real advantage, and you negate all of your prime knowledge, experience, and uniqueness - the very things I'm suggesting you should build your business around.
You are also launching your boat, which looks like every other similar boat in the ocean, into a sea of sameness, mediocrity, and over-saturation.
Remember, you will become unique, remarkable, and untouchable as you shun the pack and concentrate on your own strengths.
Take full advantage of what you already are, what you know, what you love, and what you can be recognized as an authority in. No one will be able to copy what you do.
