It would be a grave mistake on your part to ignore the wants of the women in your niche.
It's easy to get carried away with "male marketing" regardless of what you sell. The Internet is no longer the playground of geeks and male business or entrepreneurial types that we so often associate with solo business.
I have heard the statistic that close to 60% of all online users are women of various ages. I will try to find the reference for you; but regardless of what the exact number is, you need to pay attention to their needs and wants ... especially their wants.
You see, we don't always buy what we need. We typically make purchases of what we want.
We need to eat healthy. We buy what we want - fast food or things that are not healthy.
We need exercise. We buy physical labor-saving products and the latest diet fads.
We need to save money. Instead, we spend our potential savings on the things we want.
Here's an amusing little story that I hope you'll enjoy:
A woman was out golfing one day when she hit the ball into the woods. She went into the brush to look for it and found a frog in a trap.
The frog said to her, "If you release me from this trap, I will grant you three wishes."
The woman freed the frog, and the frog said, "Thank you, but I failed to mention that there was a condition to your wishes. Whatever you wish for, your husband will get times ten!"
The woman said, "That's okay." For her first wish, she wanted to be the most beautiful woman in the world.
The frog warned her, "You do realize that this wish will also make your husband the most handsome man in the world, an Adonis whom women will flock to."
The woman replied, "That's okay, because I will be the most beautiful woman in the world and he will have eyes only for me."
So, in a flash - she becomes the most beautiful woman in the world!
For her second wish, she wanted to be the richest woman in the world.
The frog said, "That will make your husband the richest man in the world. And he will be ten times richer than you."
The woman said, "That's okay, because what's mine is his and what's his is mine."
So, in a flash - she's the richest woman in the world!
The frog then inquired about her third wish, and she answered, "I want a mild heart attack."
Moral of the story: Women are clever. Don't mess with them. They know what they want.
The best way to find out what the women in your niche want is to ask them! They will tell you. In fact, women are much better at describing their wants than are men.
Some smart entrepreneurs have figured out that businesses catering to the wants of women, exclusively, are great business strategies. Such businesses are a way to drill down into a niche and segment the customers beyond what most businesses would do.
Women, please stop reading now.
FOR MEN ONLY:
The man had a heart attack ten times milder than his wife.
